NollyWood Actor Jide Kosoko Escaped Death

Nollywood actor, Jide Kosoko was lucky to escape death on Wednesday, February 26th, 2014, while driving around the Ikeja Shopping Mall, his car lost control due to brake failure and it was a miraculous survival for the former president of the Association of Nigerian Theatre Practitioners (ANTP)

He was helped medically by the Emergency unit of 7-Up with the kind support of LASTMA officials. He did not suffer any major injury neither was there a casualty but the car was badly damaged, just few weeks ago the actor celebrated his 60th birthday anniversary.

A statement has been released which reads "This is to say a big thank you to all concerned about Prince Jide Kosoko and to confirm that he is in sound health after God saved him from an auto crash at Alausa, Ikeja, yesterday…he is in sound health, having sustained no injury from the mishap. Please disregard any unhealthy rumour."

Woolwich killers Adebolajo & Adebowale sentenced to life in prison

The two men who attacked a soldier, Lee Rigby, in May 2013 and hacked him to death in the streets in front of horrified onlookers near Woolwich Barracks in south-east London, have been sentenced to life in prison. Michael Adebolajo, 29, was given a whole-life term, while Michael Adebowale, 22, was jailed for life with a minimum of 45 years.

Daily Mail reports that the British-born men began shouting  'Allahu Akbar' and 'You (Britain) and America will never be safe' during their sentencing at the court in Central London today. They were bundled out of the courtroom by several security guards following their violent outburst and the judge was forced to sentence them in their absence.

Odd News: Indian soldier kills five colleagues, commits suicide

An Indian soldier has shot dead five of his colleagues before killing himself in Indian-administered Kashmir, military officials say.

The incident took place on Wednesday night at a military camp about 20km (12 miles) north of the city of Srinagar.

An investigation was underway to determine the cause of the incident, officials said.

Kashmir is divided into Indian and Pakistan-administered sides, but both sides claim the region in full.

Both station troops there and there are periodic incidents, although a ceasefire along the line of control, which divides the region, was agreed in November 2003.

Thousands of people have been killed in Indian-administered Kashmir since an armed revolt against Indian rule erupted in 1989.

The shooting took place inside a camp for the Rashtriya Rifles paramilitary force in Safapora village in Ganderbal district.

"A soldier of a Rashtriya Rifles unit ran amok in the wee hours, killing five soldier before killing himself," the Press Trust of India quoted an army spokesman as saying.

Reports said the soldier, who was posted on sentry duty at the camp, entered one of the barracks at around 02:00 India time [20:30GMT] and fired indiscriminately at his sleeping colleagues.

A court of inquiry had been ordered into the incident, the spokesman said.

Correspondents say soldiers stationed in the region often complain of long working hours, in poor conditions and with inadequate leave.

Hundreds of soldiers and policemen on counter-insurgency operations in India have been killed in similar incidents in the past, with most of the incidents reported in the Kashmir Valley and north-eastern states.

Authorities say since 2009 more soldiers and paramilitary troops have died in fratricidal killings and suicides than while fighting militants and rebels.

In September 2012, Defence Minister AK Antony held a meeting with the military leadership to find ways to reduce such incidents.

Former army officers blame "a lack of discipline" and "poor leadership" as contributory factors.

Sad News: Car bomb kills 8 at tea shop in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — Police in Somalia's capital say a suicide car bomb blast at a tea shop near the country's intelligence agency has killed at least eight people.

Police Capt. Mohammed Hussein said the death toll was eight. The tea shop is frequented by members of Somalia's intelligence unit.

The al-Qaida-linked group al-Shabab has increased the frequency of attacks in Somalia's capital in recent weeks, raising the specter of a return to daily violence.

Why Boko Haram spared female students and killed only boys in Yobe attack

The massacre of students at the Federal Government College in the Buni Yadi area of Yobe was shrouded in mystery after reports revealed that only male students were killed.

It has however emerged that the extremists intentionally spared the female students telling them to abandon their education and get married.

Boko Haram initially started out as a campaign against western education but many believe the motives of the group have changed.

Leadership reports:

A spokesman for a Nigerian governor says soldiers who were guarding a checkpoint near a government school were mysteriously withdrawn from the checkpoint, just hours before an attack yesterday by suspected Islamic extremists.

The attack left at least 29 students dead at a school dormitory.

Officials say female students at the co-ed school were spared — and that the attackers instead told them to go home and get married and to abandon their Western education.

The attackers set a locked dormitory on fire. As students escaped through the windows, they were shot and their throats were slit. Some were burned alive.

Sad News: Girl badly beaten by boyfriend shares her story & photos of her injury on instagram

Her name is Gabriella. Says she's an aspiring Victoria Secret model and actress. Not sure where she's from though. Gabriella, via her instagram account @bambiiiii_ shared her recent sad experience of domestic violence from her boyfriend of eight months. She was badly beaten, thrown from a moving vehicle and dragged. She shared this photo of her injury above on her instagram page and wrote:

"This might be a little graphic but I just want to let everyone know that I am okay. I am a survivor of domestic violence with a boy I dated for 8 months. I really thought everything was fine but he constantly questioned me about cheating and flirting. Nonsense. I never looked at someone the way he looked at me. Thought I loved this boy. How can someone that 'loves' me do this to me? The scars on my chest are way worse and extend down to my right nipple, completely scarred. The skin on my shoulder has been completely skinned. And I have bruising on my rib cage, neck, and my muscles. I was kicked out of a moving vehicle, then beaten and dragged, as I blacked out and was left lying there in my own puddle of blood. Doctors said I could have died if not made it when I did. I am so blessed and beyond lucky to be alive and have so much support from friends, family, and strangers. As I try to recover I ask to please keep me in your prayers. I have to wear a neck brace for 3-4 weeks, an arm cast and I can barely walk for now. Thank you for all the love. I hope to be an inspiration to women and anyone involved in domestic violence.

Man arrested after trying to have SEX with corpse

A middle aged Cambodian man was caught asleep in a coffin after he allegedly tried to have sex with the corpse inside.

Unfortunately for the man identified as Chin Chean, he fell asleep in the coffin before he could have his way with the body of the 17-year-old girl, whose burial he had attended.

Chean was discovered after residents saw his foot and told the girl's family.

Daily Mail reports:

Chin Chean told police that he started digging up the coffin at 10pm, the day after he had attended the funeral of the 17-year-old girl.

The Cambodia Daily reported that after digging down through the earth he reached the coffin and managed to open it.

He then admitted to police that he had tried to have sex with the body but because the coffin was too small he was not able to do so.

Then, he admitted, he fell asleep on top of the body.

'Villagers saw Mr Chean's foot by the grave at about 6am and told the deceased's family,' said police chief Keo Vutha of the Prey Poun community 103 miles south east of the capital, Phnom Penh.

'We don't know at this stage whether he knew the victim when she was alive,' said Mr Vutha.

But he said that Chin Chean was known to take drugs and commit unusual acts, such as running around the local pagoda naked.

'We are going to send Mr Chean to the district police for questioning before we sent him to court,' said a police spokesman.

She said she hasn't been reaping the fruits from her musical album but has been getting contracts for guest appearances. She claims she was recently abroad to attend the birthday party of a bigshot and was paid 3000 dollars just for coming and not singing.

Hamza Al-Mustapha launches NGO for Peace and Unity in Nigeria

Major Hamza Al-Mustapha, former Chief Security Officer to ex-Head of State, Late General Sani Abacha has launched a platform known as the Al-Mustapha Peace, Unity and Development Initiative which he seeks to use to promote peace in Nigeria, especially in the North.

The former prime suspect in the assassination case of late MKO Abiola's wife, Kudirat Abiola, who was let off the hook in June 2013, is currently on a nationwide tour soliciting the support of eminent members of the society.

He was recently in Warri Delta state where he paid a courtesy call on the President of CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor. He solicited the advise of Oritsejafor on how to stop the tide of the Boko Haram in the North. He also said some people are investing in the Boko Haram insurgents and were sponsoring a propaganda against him and his current efforts.

Nollywood actress, Doris Simeon finally opens up about her messy separation from ex-hubby Daniel Ademinokan

Did you ever imagine that you were going to be separated someday?
No, I never thought I would be separated someday. Yes, it definitely hit me when it happened. But life goes on.
But a lot of people had the impression that you couldn't be bothered and that you wanted this freedom?
No, if I wanted the freedom, I have it now; so, why am I not exploring the situation? Instead of that, I am trying to make money. I have a lot of responsibilities. So, rather than sit down and mourn all day, I have to
face the reality.

My mother was a strong woman and I learnt a lot from her. She went through a lot, which I knew of from when I was a little child. In spite of all that she went through, she kept moving on. My mom had a stroke and survived it; and she still looked radiant. My mom jumped from one trade to another. When I think of that, I would be like, this woman, na you born me, I must do that thing wey you teach us. Those are the things I just look back and then I just move on. I have a child that I need to work for, so that he won't face the kind of suffering I faced in the future.
Will you consider marriage again?
I don't know, but I am not ruling it out because I am human. I might just fall head over heels in love again. But let me still be doing what I am doing. Wherever the Lord takes me, I will go.
What would you do differently when you find love again?
I will probably right the wrong things I did then. I mean I will do the right thing three times over.
What were those things?
Can I even point them out? I can't point them out.
Was it that you didn't have enough time for the family?
It wasn't that in anyway. It is just one of those things you have to deal with. People will say one thing or the other to defend their own sides. When I'm on set, I want to quickly do whatever I am doing. This is because I see a movie script as an examination; and when you have an examination you want to quickly do it and then relax. That is the way I work. I just want to do it and know that I am done with this script, so I can face my family. So, it's not that I get carried away with work. I just want to do the best I can at that particular time that I am doing that job and get out from that set and face my family or face whatever I need to do next.
At a time, you and Daniel were one of the best couples in Nollywood. What could have gone wrong?
Anything could have gone wrong. Anything could have triggered a fire anywhere. You don't know what might happen the next minute. We are just trying to make things go right, but God has the final say. Yes, things happen in life and till eternity you keep asking that question what went wrong. But if you dwell on that, you won't move forward because everything that happens has God's hands in it. There is a reason why anything happens and it has been written that it will happen that way.
After a year, what did you do?

Funny enough, after a year, I was like, 'Doris, how do you think you want to move on with your life? What should you do to move on? That was when I decided not to dwell on the past; otherwise, I will go hungry. People that want to laugh at me are out there, so I will rather make them say, 'Aha Aha, what's happening? And I am moving ahead with my life.

What is the relationship between the two of you now, given that you have a child for him?

We have a child, so we talk. The boy is there, so why won't we talk? We cannot be sworn enemies forever. Not every relationship leads to marriage, yet the people involved still talk.

But how do you feel knowing that your colleague is supposedly married to him?
She's a woman and he is a man. Na man I go still follow so (laughs). In this industry, most of us are colleagues; it is not that we are close friends or something. No be say na my mama born am now.

Nigerian singer, Eniola Akinbo, popularly known as Niyola miraculously survives car accident.

The EME first lady who was driving with her friend in a Honda CRV from Lekki, Lagos had just finished a meeting when the accident occurred about 7pm on Saturday February 22, 2014.

According to reports, Niyola had just exited the third mainland bridge on her way to the mainland area of Lagos when the accident occurred at the Oworonshoki axis.

It was revealed that a vehicle which was trying to overtake Niyola's car hit her CRV from behind, which sent the latter's car tumbling. The car is said to have tumbled three times before hitting a tree by the roadside.

Woman disfigured by huge facial tumour receives full face transplant

A 26 year old Polish woman identified simply as Joanna (pictured above before and after her surgery) has successfully undergone a facial transplant after suffering a severe facial tumor condition known as Neurofibromas, which affected her for many years preventing her from chewing, swallowing and even talking.

The facial transplant surgery which is the second in the history of Poland lasted 23 hours and had skin from other parts of her body grafted to her face. Doctors believe that after the completion of the medical rehabilitation process which is currently undergoing, Joanna should be able to chew, eat and talk again. Joanna says she would love to get educated & study Psychology so she could help others.

Neurofibromas is a medical condition that causes benign tumor to grow along the nerves. It is an inherited disease but could also develop as a result of gene mutation.

Sad News: Months Old Baby Found Dead Near UNILAG Canal [Photos]

A dead baby girl was found this evening around 5.25pm by UNILAG canal close to the main gate of the school in Akoka, Lagos. The baby, dressed and wearing diapers, was already dead when people noticed and brought her out of the canal. Ants were seen all over her body. Such an unbelievably heart-wrenching sight.
